How the Perrin technique might help you

Perrin technique in London

The Perrin technique in London is an osteopathic treatment therapy developed in 1989 by Dr Raymond Perrin, an osteopath and neurologist. This was whilst treating a cyclist who had lower back pain and who suffered with symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, collectively known as CFS/ME.

Whilst treating the cyclist's back pain using specialised massage techniques, Dr Raymond Perrin unwittingly helped reduce the patient’s symptoms of CFS/ME. This is an extremely debilitating disease which is still a mystery to doctors and health professionals and varies massively between patients in its symptoms and its degree of severity. It can affect people from all walks of life at all different ages and begins with general symptoms such as headaches, tiredness and lethargy. At first you may mistake it for flu-like symptoms and even now it is a disease which is often misdiagnosed, to the patient's detriment. If the symptoms are left untreated then they progress to extreme fatigue, until the patient is unable to perform basic tasks for themselves. Some patients experience cognitive malfunction and this reduces their concentration and scope of understanding and can even lead to memory loss. There may be a reduction in mobility for some patients who eventually end up wheelchair bound and even bedridden.

It is very sad to see that CFS/ME not only destroys your wellbeing, but it can have a significant impact on your personal and social relationships, your career and finances and it can cause many health complications for the future. There are some sufferers who have dealt with CFS/ME for many years and even decades. Unfortunately the longer that you have been dealing with this disease the longer you can expect the treatment period to be. This is because over time many chemical and physical changes will have occurred in the body and this will take time to reverse and recover.

Since 1989 extensive research has been carried out on CFS/ME, on how it can be diagnosed and how it can be treated and the validity of the Perrin technique in London. Dr Perrin suggested that CFS/ME is related to problems with the lymphatic system and reduced drainage of the lymph, resulting in a build-up of toxins in the cerebrospinal fluid which is the fluid that surrounds the brain and spine, as well as in the tissues of the body. Dr Perrin found that osteopathic techniques, such as specialised massage techniques helps manually stimulate the movement of the lymph and the fluid around the brain and spine, encouraging the lymphatic system into working more effectively. Here at Rakhee Osteopathy we have been practising the Perrin technique in London for the last 14 years and have significantly helped many hundreds of patients during this time to deal with the symptoms of CFS/ME and get their lives back on track.
