How The Perrin Technique can help CFS/ME and long COVID

The Perrin Technique London

Chronic fatigue syndrome, or CFS/ME, is a complicated multisystem disorder that has been affecting millions of patients across the world, yet there is still no clear diagnosis or treatment for this disease. Many healthy young adults are suddenly struck by this debilitating disease and have their whole lives put on hold for months or even years without getting a clear understanding of what is happening to them. Here at Rakhee Osteopathy, we can use The Perrin Technique London to provide you with a positive diagnosis for CFS/ME and put together an individually tailored treatment plan to combat your symptoms.

Symptoms of CFS/ME

CFS/ME is characterised by extreme fatigue that does not go away with rest. It can harm all aspects of life and health, as it is a multisystem disorder. It can affect your immune system, causing flu-like symptoms, tender lymph nodes and a persistent sore throat. CFS/ME also affects your nervous system and cognitive function, resulting in brain fog, memory loss, difficulty concentrating, headaches and sleep disturbances. Your musculoskeletal system can also be affected by aches and pains in your muscles and joints.

Long COVID

Over the last year, hundreds of thousands of patients have also been affected by similar symptoms following infection by COVID-19. Research has shown that a huge percentage of CFS/ME occurrences is triggered by viruses, such as the Epstein-Barr virus, whilst long COVID is triggered by SARS-CoV-2. The problem is that neither of these symptoms causes abnormalities in blood tests; therefore, they are not easy to diagnose.

Diagnosis with The Perrin Technique

At Rakhee Osteopathy, we use The Perrin Technique London to identify physical features on the body that indicate that you are suffering from CFS/ME or a similar disorder. Five physical signs have been listed by Dr Raymond Perrin, who developed this technique. You will undergo a physical examination where we will look for breast varicosities, mechanical disturbances in the thoracic spine, a tender Perrin point, a tender coeliac plexus and dampened cranial flow. These signs are indicative of CFS/ME. If you are positively diagnosed, then we will create an osteopathic treatment plan for you using The Perrin Technique London.

How does The Perrin Technique work?

The Perrin Technique involves using osteopathic massage techniques on the head, neck, back and spine to stimulate fluid flow around the brain and spinal cord and remove toxins from the cerebrospinal fluid. These toxins are diverted to the lymphatic system and into the blood to be excreted or metabolised accordingly. The Perrin Technique works by reducing the level of toxins in the system, and eventually, once the toxins are removed, the body can function correctly, and the symptoms should gradually improve.
